MATCH RESULTS

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Western Carolina University Catamounts women's tennis team cruised past the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University by the score of 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the WSSU Tennis Complex as WSSU fell to 2-13 on the season.

The Catamounts swept all five singles matches as Terese Lavan dropped back-to-back sets (0-6, 0-6) to WCU's Trish Hanson at first singles to start the rout. 

Western Carolina earned a scoreless sweep at second singles when Amanda Walker was blanked by Susanna Sjokvist in straight sets (0-6, 0-6).

The Lady Rams dropped the third, fourth, and fifth singles matches and surrendered a point via default at sixth singles.

The Catamounts earned wins at first and second doubles and secured the doubles point to secure the 7-0 match victory.

The loss drops the Lady Rams to 2-13 on the season while the Catamounts improve to 5-6 overall with the win.

WSSU returns to action on Saturday, March 31, 2007 as they face the Hampton Pirates and Delaware State Hornets at the Lady Pirate Tennis Invitation in Hampton, VA.
