Lady Rams Step Up Big to Open Hilton Garden Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams had another strong opening day as the team posted some strong efforts on the first day of the Hilton Garden Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Lady Rams had some great overall efforts against some quality competition on the opening day of the meet and set the stage for an even stronger day tomorrow.

In the meet which featured several NCAA Division I teams, the Lady Rams saw some great performances on the big stage. WSSU sophomore Raven Covington set the stage when she qualified for the finals of the women's 60m dash when she placed 10th with a 7.67 in the event. Junior Tajanel McNeill continued her great season as she placed third in the women's triple jump with a 40'00" (12.19m) leap. Senior Kristi Baptiste also had a strong day when she posted a 58.56 in the women's 400m run to place 12th in the event.
