Rams Finish Fifth at 2018 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

 

BOWIE, MD – The Winston-Salem State Rams gave some solid performances to close out the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Sunday. The Rams battled through injury to place fifth in the final team standings at the meet with 77.5 points at the meet. 

On the track, the Rams had some strong efforts in the distance events at the meet. WSSU freshman Imani Travis had the best performance of the day when she won the women's 300m run with an 11:07.98.

The team also had some success in the field events. WSSU sophomore Bria Mercer placed second in the women's triple jump with a 37'9.25" (11.51m) jump. Sophomore Mikel Franklin added a third place finish in the women's high jump with a 5'1" (1.55m) jump.
