Personal: Tyrah Winfrey will joins the Winston-Salem State track & field teams this fall as a member of another talented freshman class...She is a multi-talented athlete whose focus remains on middle distance and cross country events...She comes to WSSU after a great high school career at 71st High School in Fayetteville, N.C....She ran a 19:48 (5K) at the 2008 NCSHAA State 4-A Cross Country Championships, a 1:20 in the 500m NCSHAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships, and a 2:18 at the NCSHAA Outdoor State Championships...For her efforts, she earned team MVP honors as well as the Coach's Award...She is the daughter of Marvin and Linda Thomas.
