The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams continued to post impressive times early in the indoor track & field season. Both teams had some solid times in both sprint and distance events to grab a piece of the spotlight in a field loaded with some of the top teams and individuals in amateur track & field. Junior Irene Jeptolo had the best individual performance for the Lady Rams finishing second in the women's 5000 meter run in a time of 18:59.78. She left runners from both Elon and Florida Atlantic behind to take the second place finish. Sophomore sprinter Wykietha Barnett also had a strong day finishing 14th in the women's 60m dash with a time of 00:8.00. Barnett reached the finals of one of the most crowded events of the day with 35 total participants battling for a spot in the finals. The Lady Rams' 4x400m relay team finished 10th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:20.54. The Lady Rams were solid in the field of 14 teams in the event. Sophomore sprinter Gerrod Sidbury had the best individual performance for the Rams finishing fifth in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 00:50.30. Brandon Howe was also impressive in the event finishing 13th with time of 00:51.29. Howe added a 14th place in the men's 200m dash with a time of 00:23.24. Sophomore Brock Bynum finished two places behind with a time of 00:23.38.

The men's 4x400m relay teams kept up their string of impressive performances as the WSSU `A' team finished fourth in the event with a time of 03:21.78 while the WSSU `B' team finished eighth with a time of 03:32.93. The `A' team defeated both a UNC-Chapel Hill `B' team and both squad surpassed the Duke team that participated in the event.
The team will next head north to take part in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on February 2-3rd before returning to
