CONWAY, SC - The Winston-Salem State University women's track and field team turned in four top ten finishes at the final day of competition at the 2006 Shamrock Track and Field Invitational as the Lady Rams on a day in which the Lady Rams posted a school record in the 4x400 meter relays with a time of 4:08.41 seconds.

Wykeita Barnett turned in the most impressive performance for WSSU on the day as she placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.67 seconds (behind runners from Iowa, Minnesota and Binghamton); placed 10^th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.28 seconds, and was a member of the WSSU record-setting 4x400 meter relay team which placed ninth.

Sandy Harrison narrowly missed a pair of top tens on the day as she finished 11^th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.40 seconds and placed 13^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.66 seconds.

The four top-ten finishes is one placing behind the showing that the Lady Rams posted only a week prior at the 56^th Florida A&M Track and Field Relays when WSSU recorded five women's top-10 finishes.

The fledgling program, in only their first year of existence after an extended layoff in which WSSU did not sponsor a program, continues to impress and perform beyond expectations.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday, March 25, 2006 as they travel across town to Wake Forest University to compete in the WFU Track and Field Invitational.
