GREENSBORO, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams Track & Field teams continued their stellar season with some great performances at the 2009 Aggie Relays at the Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, NC. Both teams had some great performances both on the track and in field events as well.
Lady Ram senior high jumper Jessica Peaks had the best WSSU finish of the day, placing second in the women's high jump with a 5'6" (1.68m) leap.
The Lady Rams' freshmen also stepped in for some great performances. Freshman sprinter Shanika Lamons also had a great day with one of the top times in the women's 400m dash. She finished the event in 57.81 to win her heat and post one of the best times of the day. The freshmen duo of Kayla Long and Denesha Jiles both had great days as well with both sprinters qualifying for the women's 100m dash finals. Long finished with a 12.50 to finish third in her heat while Jiles ran a 12.25, the second best time in her heat. Fellow freshman Crystal Webley qualified for the finals of the women's 100m hurdles with a 15.10 and finished fourth in her heat.
Junior sprinter Paul Williams took center stage for the Rams as he qualified for the men's 100m dash finals with a 10.75 to win his heat. Senior Gerrod Sidbury also had a great day with one of the top times in the men's 400m dash with a 47.88.
The Rams' distance medley relay was also impressive finishing second with a time of 10:11.04.
