CLEMSON, SC - After the first weekend of competition in the 2006-07 indoor track and field season the Winston-Salem State University track and field teams look to be very talented as evidenced by this past weekend's performance at the Clemson University Invitational.
The Lady Rams' Most Outstanding Performer (as voted on by the WSSU coaches) Sandy Harrison picked up in 2006-07 where she left off last season as she turned in stellar performances in the 400 meters, the Distance Medley Relay (800m DMR), and the first leg of the 4x400m relay en route to team honors.
The Rams' Most Outstanding Performer (as voted on by the WSSU coaches) Gerrod Sidbury continues his excellence as he turned in outstanding performances in the 4x4 relay.

Lady Ram returnee Mia Harris turned in a quality performance in the women's shot put as she placed 15th with a distance of 10.24 meters marking WSSU's first top-20 shot put result since the re-instatement of track and field at WSSU three seasons ago.
Sidbury led the Rams as he paced the men's 4x4 relay with an opening-leg time of 47.65 seconds en route to helping WSSU place 19th in a very deep Division I field.
Other men's notables saw Richard Marcellus post a 17th place finish in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.71 seconds.
Kenneth Koech turned in a top-10 finish in the men's 5000 meters as he placed eighth overall with a time of 17:01.03.
"Our young men and women ran very well for their first indoor track and field meet. There were some outstanding performances and they all showed great team spirit and sportsmanship. There are truly limitless possibilities this season." WSSU head coach Halcyon Blake commented.
