HAMPTON, VA – Winston-Salem State University volleyball earned a pair of weekly honors as WSSU senior setter Kiara Brown was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week while freshman middle blocker Brittany Rich was named the CIAA Rookie of the Week.
Both players gave great efforts last week both offensively and defensively for the Lady Rams. Brown took home the honor after totaling 35 assists and 10 digs for the Lady Rams. Rich took home the honor after totaling nine kills with just four attack errors. She also added 18 digs and a block assist. Her best effort came at Mars Hill when she totaled four kills against the Lions.
The duo will take their efforts into the heart of conference play this weekend when the Lady Rams compete in the 2011 CIAA Volleyball Round-up. The Lady Rams will open play against the Chowan Hawks, followed by a match against Elizabeth City State on Friday.
