WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-14, 2-5 CIAA) opened the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up in style with a three-set win over a scrappy Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions (1-8, 1-7 CIAA) team, Saturday morning. Though the Lady Rams cruised for much of the match, the team found themselves in a battle late against a Lady Lions team that did not give up easy. The Lady Rams took the win 25-13, 25-9, and 26-24.
As a team, the Lady Rams had a great overall effort with 35 kills and eight service aces in the match. WSSU senior outside hitter Avoni Seymour led the way for the team with 10 kills in the match. Fellow senior Francesca Edgerton added eight kills as well.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 2-14 overall and 2-5 in the CIAA. For more information on Lady Rams volleyball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
