WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (5-4, 5-0 CIAA) held on for their fifth straight win when the team took a four-set win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (1-4, 1-4 CIAA). The Lady Rams had to give it their all in order to take a win over a Fayetteville State team that both teams battle for every point of the hard-fought match. In the end, it was the Lady Rams who came out on top, 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, and 29-27.
Each set of the match saw the Lady Rams jump out to a strong early start, but had to hold on to pull out the clutch win with all but one set, being decided by four or fewer points. As a team, the Lady Rams notched a strong offensive effort with 48 kills while taking advantage 34 attack errors by the Broncos. WSSU senior outside hitter Katelin Wensley led the Lady Rams' effort with her second straight double-double effort with 14 kills and 17 digs. Junior middle hitter Darissa Jones added 10 kills. Senior libero Katelyn Sigala added a team-high 19 digs.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to a perfect 5-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Monday when the team heads to Saint Augustine's to take on the Lady Falcons.
