RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (6-4, 6-0 CIAA) continued their hot streak when the team took a dominating three-set win over the Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons (2-6, 2-3 CIAA), Monday evening. With the win, the Lady Rams improve to an impressive 6-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play and took their sixth straight victory.
The Lady Rams took the win behind a strong defensive performance that saw the team take all three sets 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14. As a team, the Lady Rams allowed just 20 kills and committed just eight attack errors in the match. In addition to their strong defensive effort, the Lady Rams also took advantage at the service line when the team took 17 service aces in the match. Individually, WSSU senior Katelin Wensley and junior middle hitter Chelsea Violenes both recorded seven kills each in the match. Violenes also added three block assists in the match.
The Lady Rams will return home for their next action as the team will host another set of Falcons. The Lady Rams will take on the Pfeiffer Falcons at home in a 7:00 p.m. match at the C.E.
