CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (7-5, 6-0 CIAA) returned to their winning ways when the team took a three-set victory over the Virginia State Trojans at the second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. The team clicked on all cylinders to take the win, 25-14, 25-22, and 25-18.
The Lady Rams took the win behind a great defensive effort and also took advantage of several VSU miscues to take the victory. The Lady Rams allowed just 25 Trojan kills in the match while forcing 26 attack errors. WSSU junior Chelsea Violenes led the way for the Lady Rams with eight kills and four block assists in the match. Senior Katelin Wensley added seven kills with six digs. Senior libero Katelyn Sigala added a team-high 11 digs in the match as well.
