RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (14-10, 13-2 CIAA) took their third straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) win, Monday when the team took a dominating three-set win over the Shaw Lady Bears (2-21, 0-14 CIAA). The Lady Rams took the win behind an impressive effort that saw the team allow fewer than 13 points in all three sets of the match. In the end, the Lady Rams picked up the win, 25-12, 25-9, and 25-12.
As a team, the Lady Rams needed just 26 kills to take the win as the team benefitted from 22 Shaw hitting errors and 12 receiving errors. WSSU junior setter Kayla Brass led the way for the team with 12 assists and a pair of service aces. Junior right side hitter Olivia Owens added a team-high eight kills. Freshman Jocelyn Mills added six kills with just two errors.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 13-2 in CIAA play and 8-1 in the CIAA Southern Division. The team will next head to Charlotte, N.C. to face Queens (N.C.) in a non-conference match, Friday before returning home for a Senior Night match against the Johnson C.
