FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (18-11) battled their way to the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship Match with a 3-1 win over the Virginia State Trojans (17-11), Saturday morning. The Lady Rams took the win behind a powerful offensive effort, winning the match 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-12.
The Lady Rams brought a strong overall effort to win the match with 43 total kills and only 20 attack errors. The Lady Rams also added 80 digs and 13 total blocks (one solo) in the match as well. WSSU sophomore right side hitter Olivia Owens led the way for the Lad Rams with 14 kills and three total blocks (one solo) in the match. WSSU senior outside hitter Avoni Seymour added nine kills and 13 digs in the match as well. Senior Katelin Wensley added at team-high 16 digs in the match.
