Henderson Named CIAA Coach of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC – The honors just keep rolling in for the Winston-Salem State University Rams volleyball team. This week, WSSU head coach Andi Henderson was honored as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Coach of the Week after leading the Rams to a win last week. The honor marked the second week with a conference honor for the Rams as senior outside hitter Jasmine Smith was named the CIAA Player of the Week in the previous week.

Henderson earned the honor after leading the Rams to a big non-conference win last week. The team took an impressive three-set win over the Catawba Indians. The Rams took the win behind a great defensive effort as they held the Indians to just 28 kills in the match. The Rams were especially strong up front where they totaled 11 blocks (five solo).

Henderson will lead the Rams back into action this evening when the team hosts the Concord Mountain Lions in a 7:00 p.m. match at the Whitaker Gymnasium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
