  • Cobb Named to 2018 NCCSIA College Division All-State Team

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC – Winston-Salem State University junior outside hitter Ytae Cobb will need to make room on her trophy case as she was named to the 2018 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Volleyball Team, Tuesday afternoon. She earned the second team honor after being one of the top players on the Rams and in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

    SALEM, VA – Winston-Salem State University sophomore outside hitter Danyale Berry gave a great performance at the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Championship Tournament. For her efforts she was honored with a spot on the 2018 CIAA All-Tournament Team.
  • Rams' Season Ends with Three-Set Loss to Top-Seeded Shaw in CIAA Semifinals

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (16-15) capped the 2018 season with a great effort, but it was not enough as the team took a three-set loss to the top-seeded Shaw Lady Bears (20-8) in the semifinal round of the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Rams gave a great effort in all three sets of the match, falling 25-23, 25-23, and 25-22.

    CHARLOTTE, NC –After a terrific 2018 regular season, the Winston-Salem State duo of junior outside hitter Ytae Cobb and sophomore outside hitter Danyale Berry were both selected for the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference team. After leading the Rams to a 15-14 regular season and a quarterfinal upset win at Virginia Union, the duo was selected as two of the top players in the CIAA.

    RICHMOND, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (16-14) pulled off the upset when the team took a five-set win over the Virginia Union Panthers (12-15) in the quarterfinal round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship Tournament. After taking a falling behind, 1-2, the Rams stormed back for back-to-back wins in the final two sets of match to claim the upset victory.

    FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (15-14, 14-4 CIAA) ended the 2018 regular season on a down note when the team took a three-set road loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (14-11, 14-4 CIAA). The Rams found a hard time getting their offense going when the team took the 25-15, 25-21, and 25-21. The loss was a tough one for the Rams as it pushed the team into third place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division.

    SALISBURY, NC – With every match counting, the Winston-Salem State Rams (15-13, 14-3 CIAA) stepped up in a big way to claim a four-set road win over the Livingstone Blue Bears (8-14, 7-10 CIAA), Thursday evening. The Rams took their second straight win behind a great overall team effort to take the 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-21 victory.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (14-13, 13-3 CIAA) picked up a key Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division win when the team claimed a three-set victory over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (16-8, 13-4 CIAA). The win avenges a four-set loss in Charlotte and closed the home court regular season for the Rams.

The match was a pivotal one as the Rams sought to solidify their spot in second place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division. The Rams did not go down easy as they took the hard-fought loss, 16-25, 25-23, 23-25, and 23-25.

The Rams took the win behind a great overall effort, holding the Panthers back to claim the 25-12, 25-11, and 25-21 win.

The Rams claimed their fourth straight victory with the team dominating the Falcons for the second time in three days, 25-13, 25-11, and 25-14.

The Rams had to click on all cylinders to fend off a scrappy Saint Augustine’s team, 25-12, 25-14, and 27-25.

The Rams took the win behind a great offensive outing, defeating the Broncos, 27-25, 16-25, 25-15, and 25-13.

The Rams controlled much of the match, but the team needed a big third-set rally to claim the wins.

After a slow start, the Rams had a quality offensive outing, but the team could not get past the Golden Bulls in the 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, and 26-28 loss in their second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division match.

After taking a 2-1 deficit into the fourth set, the Rams bounced back for wins in the fourth and fifth sets to claim the 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 25-19, and 15-10 victory.

The Rams had to claw their way to victory as the team overcame a feisty Vikings squad.

After taking a 1-2 deficit, the Rams bounced back for back-to-back wins in the final two sets to claim the 21-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, and 15-12 victory.

With the win, the Rams open CIAA play with a perfect 3-0 record over the weekend.

The Rams held off a feisty Panthers team for a 25-15, 19-25, 26-24, 18-25, and 15-11 victory.

The Rams were up for the early morning match, but the team could find no answers in the 25-6, 25-16, and 25-16 loss to the Bulldogs.

Invitational. The Rams gave a solid effort in the loss, but some offensive miscues and some staunch Jaguar defense cost the Rams in the 25-13, 25-12, and 25-15 loss.

The Rams gave a strong effort in the match in spite of a short turnaround from their previous match. However, the team ended the day with the tough 14-25, 25-20, 28-30, and 19-25 loss.
