Rams Volleyball to Hold Open Tryouts

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams volleyball team will hold open tryouts on Friday, March 4th in Whitaker Gymnasium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. The tryouts will be open to current Winston-Salem State University students, high school seniors, or players who have not competed in any collegiate athletics, but are high school graduates.[read more]

December 9, 2015Mills Named to NCCSIA College Division All-State TeamBELMONT, NC – This has been a season to remember for Winston-Salem State University junior middle blocker Jocelyn Mills and it keeps getting better as she was honored by being named to the 2015 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State volleyball team. The honor caps a great season for the Clinton, Maryland native.
December 3, 2015Rams' Season Ends with Three-Set Loss to Wheeling Jesuit at NCAA Division II Atlantic Region TournamentWHEELING, WVA – The Winston-Salem State University Rams’ (22-8) season came to an end when the team took a three-set loss to the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals (34-4), Thursday in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament. Entering the tournament as the eighth-seeded team, the Rams struggled to get their offense going against the top-seeded host Cardinals as the team fell, 25-7, 25-10, and 25-11.
November 23, 2015Rams Earn #8 Seed and Will Take On #1 Wheeling Jesuit to Open 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region TournamentINDIANAPOLIS, IN – After winning the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship, the Winston-Salem State University Rams (22-7) will look for more in the post-season when the team takes part in the 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament. The Rams will enter the tournament as the eighth-seed and will take on the top-seeded host Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals (33-4) on December 3rd.
November 22, 2015Rams Top Shaw in Four Sets to Win 2015 CIAA Volleyball ChampionshipFAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams (22-7) claimed their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship when they took a four-set win over the Shaw Bears (21-11). With the win, the Rams earned the first CIAA Volleyball Championship for Winston-Salem State in program history dating back to 1978.
November 21, 2015Rams Advance to CIAA Volleyball Championship Match with Four-Set Win Over Virginia StateFAYETTEVILLE, NC- The storybook season continues for the Winston-Salem State University Rams (21-7) when the team advanced to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship match with a four-set win over the Virginia State Trojans (19-9) in the semifinal round, Saturday afternoon. After taking wins in the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-19, the Rams took a 25-27 fourth set loss to the Trojans before sealing the win with a 25-14 fourth set victory.
November 20, 2015Rams Open 2015 CIAA Volleyball Championships With Three-Set Win Over Lincoln (Pa.)FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams (20-7) swept the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions (6-14) in three sets Friday afternoon to secure a spot in the semifinal round of the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship Tournament, Saturday. The win puts the Rams into new territory as the team’s 20 wins are the most in in nearly two decades.
