Winston-Salem, NC - With its quick dispatch of the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears in the first round of the 2003 Lady Ram Invitational, the Winston-Salem State University volleyball team tallied its first win of the season on Friday.
The Lady Rams (1-6, 1-2 CIAA) came out of the locker room focused and intent on breaking their six-game losing streak. With a three-game sweep of the Blue Bears in a match that took only 53 minutes, the Lady Rams did just that. WSSU would never trail in any of the three games, en route to the 30-23; 30-24; 30-25 victory.
Jamila Dalton (Jr./5'11"/MH/Schenectady, NY) led the way for WSSU as she recorded ten kills. She was followed closely by her teammate, and 2002 All-CIAA First Team selection Chasity Clark (Jr./5'10"/OH/Winston-Salem, NC) who recorded nine kills.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 1-6 overall (1-2 CIAA) and look to the 6:00 pm game versus Barton College as they continue on in their quest to win their third straight Lady Ram Invitational championship. With the loss, the Lady Blue Bears fall to 0-5 overall (0-2 CIAA).
