Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams Volleyball team dropped its fifth straight match on Friday evening in front of a packed house in the Whitaker Gymnasium.
The Lady Rams (1-11 overall 1-3 CIAA) won the first game and proceeded to drop the next three games, falling in defeat 3-1.
The Lady Rams made it an exciting one, as the first match saw a WSSU comeback that was extraordinary in effort.
The Lady Rams would actually pull ahead by one point until Kyra Pridgen committed two errors to once again give Benedict back the lead. However, Dara Bess would tie the game, at 30-30 to force extra play. Jamila Dalton would commit a service error and look to all but seal WSSU's fate.
However, it was Bess again who would put home two consecutive attempts to give the Lady Rams the one point lead at 32-31. Riquita Quick would end the game when she recorded a solo block to give the Lady Rams the 1-0 lead.
However, that is where the Lady Ram dominance would cease. After winning the first game 33-31, the Lady Rams dropped the next three 30-26; 30-21; and 30-27 to recorded the loss.
With the defeat, the Lady Rams fall to 1-11 overall (1-3 CIAA). They will return to action on October 7th when they travel to Charlotte, NC to take on the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University as WSSU resumes CIAA league play.
