Fayetteville, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams finished the 2003 CIAA Volleyball Round-Up the same way that they finished the 2002 edition...perfect.
The Lady Rams defeated St. Paul's College 3-0 on Sunday morning to close out the tournament 5-0 defeating all of the CIAA EasternDivision teams except for Shaw University who was not present due to a scheduling conflict.
The Lady Rams posted a three game victory over St. Paul's by the score of 30-17; 30-21; and 30-28.
Leading the way for WSSU for the fourth time in the last five games were 2002 All-CIAA First Team, and 2003 Pre-Season All-CIAA team selections Chasity Clark (Jr./5'9"/OH/Winston-Salem, NC) and Ebony Douglas (Jr./5'9"/OH/Raleigh, NC) who tallied 13 kills, 7 and 6 respectively. They also helped out on defense as the pair combined for 12 digs.
With the victory, the Lady Rams improve to 7-11 overall and 7-3 in the CIAA and are currently riding a six-match win streak.
The Lady Rams will not have long to rest on their laurels as they will travel back to Fayetteville, NC to take on the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. The match-up will see the 2002 Western Division regular-season Champion Lady Rams take on the 2002 regular season runner-up FSU Lady Broncos. The Lady Broncos defeated the Lady Rams earlier this season in Winston-Salem, NC on September 10th, 2003 as they swept the Lady Rams 3-0. The Lady Rams will look for revenge on Tuesday evening.
