Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams did not have an easy time defeating the Lady Bears of Shaw University on Tuesday evening at Whitaker Gymnasium in CIAA volleyball action as they ground out a victory by the score of 3-2.
The Lady Bears, who, due to a scheduling conflict, were unable to participate in the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up earlier in the month, and therefore had yet to face the Rams, only postponed the inevitable as they fell victim to a WSSU team that seems to be peaking at the correct time and was able to show their poise and heart in a five game match victory.
The Lady Rams, led by Crown Trophy-WSSU Athlete of the Week Chasity Clark (Jr./5'9"/OH/Winston-Salem, NC) who turned in 24 kills, snuck past the Lady Bears as they posted scores of 26-30; 30-14; 24-30; 30-16; and 17-15.
The Lady Rams, who improve to 9-16 overall and 9-5 in the CIAA, will take their two match win streak into action this upcoming Friday evening as they host the University of the District of Columbia at 6:00 pm in Whitaker Gymnasium.
