Lady Rams Improve To 13-18 Overall; Defeat Virginia Union 3-0

Nov. 14, 2003

Durham, NC - The Lady Rams' final game of the first day of the 2003 CIAA Volleyball Championship ended with a victory as the Lady Rams easily defeated the Virginia Union Lady Panthers 3-0.

The Lady Rams came into the contest with a 1-1 overall record for the Championship (having defeated Shaw 3-1 and fallen to NC Central 3-1) and were looking not only to close out the day with a victory, but to bounce back from a gut-wrenching 3-1 loss to bitter CIAA rival North Carolina Central in their most recent game, and advance to the next round of play on Saturday morning. They succeeded.

WSSU did just that as they blasted Virginia Union 3-0, posting scores of 30-15; 30-20; and 30-17 as the Lady Rams improved to 13-18 overall on the season.

Setting the pace for the Lady Rams, for the 22nd time this season, was Chasity Clark (Jr./5'9"/OH/Winston-Salem, NC). The two-time All-CIAA outside hitter recorded 9 kills to lead the WSSU offense.

With the win, the Lady Rams will advance to one of tomorrow's semi-final, single-elimination matches versus #1 seed St. Augustine's College at 10:00 am at the Walker Physical Education Complex on the campus of North Carolina Central University.
