Wingate, NC - The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team dropped its second match of the 2004 Wingate University volleyball tournament on Saturday morning as they fell in defeat to the host team by the score of 3-0.
The Lady Rams, turned in a valiant effort against the tournament hosts but would ultimately fall in defeat by the score of 3-0 in front of a packed gymnasium.
WSSU dropped the first game by the score of 30-19 and the second set by the score of 30-24 before dropping the final game by the score of 30-11. WSSU Head Coach Lataya Hilliard-Gray had the following comment: "I don't think that we turned in our best effort today, but we faced a very difficult opponent in Wingate. This is excellent preparation for our grueling CIAA conference schedule and will definitely help us in the weeks ahead."
The Lady Rams fall to 1-2 on the season with the loss and will return to action on Saturday at 2:00 pm as they will face the University of North Carolina Pembroke to close out tournament competition.
