Lady Rams Volleyball Earns First Win Of 2006; Defeats Fayetteville State 3-2

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team earned their first win of the season on Monday evening as they earned a hard-fought 3-2 (30-32, 30-26, 24-30, 30-24, 16-14) come-from-behind victory over the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Labor Day at the CE Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

 

The Lady Rams dropped two of the first three games in the match before coming back and sweeping the final two games en route to their first win of the season.

 

WSSU was led by Kendall Sutton (OH/Louisburg, NC) who tallied a match-high 17 kills in the match.  She was joined in double-figures by Seidah El-Amin (MB/Statesville, NC) who recorded 10 kills in the win.


 

 

 

The Lady Broncos were led by Cassandra Peterson who recorded 16 kills in a losing effort.

 

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 1-9 on the season while Fayetteville State falls to 1-3 overall.

 

WSSU returns to action on Thursday as they head out on the road to face Wofford.  Match time is slated for 6:00 pm.
