Gardner-Webb Women's Volleyball Downs WSSU With 3-0 Sweep - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team dropped to 0-7 overall on Tuesday evening at the C.E. Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, NC as they fell victim to a Gardner-Webb team that turned in a stellar 47.6% attack percentage en route to a 3-0 sweep (30-8, 30-9, 30-17) in non-conference volleyball action.

The Lady Rams mustered only eight and nine points respectively during the first two games of the match as they fell into an early two games to none hole in the early-going.

WSSU responded in the third and final game of the match with their most productive frame of the day as they posted 17 points before succumbing to a very aggressive Gardner-Webb squad.

The Lady Rams were led by Valentina Pushkina who tallied a match-high five kills in the contest as no WSSU players recorded double-digit kills on the day. Gardner-Webb was led by Ashley Pridgen who recorded 17 kills in the contest as she was one of a pair of G-W players to record more than 10 kills.

The win improves Gardner-Webb to 3-5 overall on the year as WSSU drops to 0-7 overall with the loss.

The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 1:00 pm as they travel to Orangeburg, SC to face the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University.
