Host Team Lady Tigers Defeat WSSU Volleyball 3-0 In SSU Invitational Play

Sept. 12, 2005

Final Stats

Savannah, GA - The Lady Rams volleyball team cannot seem to catch a break in 2005 as they were the victim of untimely attacking errors on Friday evening as they fell in defeat by the score of 3-0 to the host-team Lady Tigers of Savannah State University at the SSU Volleyball Invitational in Savannah, GA.

The Lady Rams, who were searching for their first victory of 2005, jumped out to an early lead in game #1 before watching the Lady Tigers mount a furious comeback that netted them the game one victory 30-22.

Games two and three would be just as close, and filled with just as much action, as the two teams battled back and forth at a furious pace in a match that took only one hour and 26 minutes.

Unfortunately, for Ram fans, the Lady Tigers would secure a win in game two by the score of 30-20, before closing out the match with a 30-28 nail-biter in game three to sweep the Lady Rams.

The Lady Rams, still showing signs of fatigue from an early morning departure on Friday morning, and who were playing their third match in two days, and fourth match in four days, looked to be drastically improved from their first match of the day which saw them record a paltry .032 attack percentage.

WSSU would improve their attack percentage to a respectable .133 for the match as Valentina Pushkina and Kyra Pridgen led WSSU with nine kills each in the losing effort.  Satin Kinsey led the Lady Tigers with nine kills in the win.

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-8 on the season, and are still looking for their first win of 2005.

The winless Lady Rams will return to action at 10:00 am on Saturday morning versus the Lady Pirates of Hampton University.  The Lady Tigers move on to face Southern University at 12:00 pm.
