WSSU Volleyball Pushes Consecutive Loss Streak To Nine Games; Falls To Hampton University 3-0

Sept. 12, 2005

Final Stats

Savannah, GA - The Lady Rams volleyball team pushed their consecutive match losing streak to nine matches on Saturday morning at the Savannah State University Volleyball Invitational as WSSU fell in three games to the Lady Pirates of Hampton University in second-round volleyball action from Savannah, GA.

WSSU, who has faced only two non-Division I opponents in their nine matches this season, once again faced a Division I opponent in the Lady Pirates of Hampton.

As has been the case all season thus far, Coach Hilliard-Gray's Lady Rams again fared well as Hampton earned the sweep in three close games by the scores of 30-21, 30-20, and 30-24.

For the second time in three matches at the Savannah State University Volleyball Invitational, the Lady Rams would see their attack percentage dip below 10% as they would record only 29 kills while tallying 26 errors for an attack percentage of .031 (3.1%).

In stark contrast, the Lady Pirates would record 13 more kills than errors in the match as they recorded an attack percentage of .123 (12.3%) en route to 38 kills and only 25 errors.

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-9 on the season, and are still looking for their first win of 2005.

The winless Lady Rams will return to action at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening versus the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University.  The Lady Rams will try to defeat the 2004 CIAA Champion Lady Eagles to earn their first win of 2005.
