Box Score

RALEIGH, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (1-9) picked up their first win of the season, Thursday evening when the team took a 3-1 win over the St. Augustine's Lady Falcons (0-7). The win was an especially big one as it was the squad's first win under head coach Douglas Hunter. A former assistant coach for the Lady Falcons, Hunter was triumphant in his return as a head coach.

The team showed its mettle, bouncing back from a 20-30 loss in game one to take three straight games, 30-26, 30-26, and 30-28. The Lady Rams used a stifling defense to key the win allowing just 33 kills to the host Lady Falcons and totaling 65 digs in the match. Freshman hitter Erica Cole led the way for the Lady Rams with a career-high 18 kills in the match. Fellow freshman Ashley Harris added a team-high 16 digs in the match to go along with nine kills.
