Durham, NC - North Carolina Central University senior middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb amassed a match-high 18 kills and proved to be the visiting Lady Rams' undoing during the Lady Eagles' 3-1 (30-13, 19-30, 30-15, 30-24) victory over Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday at the L.T. Walker Complex on the campus of North Carolina Central University.
NCCU junior Brenda Brown contributed 13 kills, sophomore Latoya Tate added 11 kills and 10 digs, and senior Patricia Rodrigues had eight kills and a match-high 22 digs. Junior setter Ariel Germain recorded 44 assists and seven blocks for NCCU as they improved to 5-7 on the season (3-0 CIAA).
WSSU (2-6, 1-1 CIAA) was topped by senior Chasity Clark with 16 kills and nine digs. Junior Kyra Pridgen added six kills and 10 digs in the losing effort.
With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 2-6 overall and are saddled with their first CIAA loss of the season as they fall to 1-1 in the CIAA.
WSSU returns to action five times this weekend at the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up to be held in Fayetteville, NC starting on Friday afternoon.
