ORANGEBURG, SC - Despite an impressive team performance, the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (23-30, 30-25, 31-33, 23-30) decision to the Hampton University Lady Pirates in second-round action from the South Carolina State University Spikefest Tournament in Orangeburg, SC on Saturday morning.
The Lady Rams dropped the first game 23-30 but rebounded nicely to tie the match at 1-1 with a 30-25 win in the match's second game.
The third game of the day would again go in favor of the Lady Pirates as WSSU fell 33-31 in a game that would need extra-time to determine the outcome. Following the loss in the third game, the Lady Rams were unable to recover, eventually falling in the fourth game 23-30 as

WSSU was led by Kendall Sutton who recorded a team-high 13 kills. In addition to her baker's dozen kill performance she tallied 28 digs in the contest. Sutton was joined by Valentina Pushkina who recorded 12 kills in the losing effort.
