Fayetteville, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team earned their third win of the 2004 season, and third CIAA win on Saturday as they handed the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State a 3-0 loss (30-19, 30-15, 30-19) in day two action of the 2004 CIAA Volleyball Round-Up in Fayetteville, NC.
The Lady Rams were led by Chasity Clark who recorded 12 kills and committed only two errors in 20 total attempts as she turned in a .500 hitting percentage, helping to pave the way to the WSSU victory.
Clark was not the only Lady Ram who turned in a solid offensive performance as Meredith Martin and Kerri Sparrow both recorded six kills in the match. Lady Ram setter Janessa Webb spread the ball around and recorded a match-high 30 assists in the process.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 3-7 overall (3-2 CIAA) while the Lady Vikings fall to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the CIAA. Both teams will return to action later in the afternoon as they will close out the second day of the CIAA round-up starting at 2:00 pm.
