Lady Rams Volleyball Earns First Win Of 2005 As They Defeat Bowie State

Fayetteville, NC - The Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University are no longer looking for their first win of the 2005 season as they earned a win, their first overall this season, as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University in volleyball action from the CIAA Volleyball Round Up in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday afternoon.


 

 

 

The Lady Rams and Lady Bulldogs fought back and forth in the match as the Winston-Salem State lost the first game 18-30 before reeling off two game wins by the scores of 30-22 and 30-18. 

 

The fourth game would go in favor of Bowie State by the score of 30-27 as they two teams headed into the deciding tie-breaker that would decide the match's outcome. 

 

The fifth and deciding game would see the Lady Rams snatch the win from the jaws of defeat as WSSU earned a 15-10 win and match victory.

 

Cherena Douglass led the Lady Rams with 11 kills in the victory.  With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 1-14 on the season (1-5 CIAA).

 

WSSU returns to action at 3:00 pm when they face the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University.
