Sept. 24, 2004
Winston-Salem, NC - The Lady Rams volleyball team started off the 2004 Lady Ram Invitational in spectacular fashion on Friday afternoon as they handed CIAA-rival Livingstone College a 3-1 loss in the opening match of the tournament by the scores of 30-22, 25-30, 30-20, 30-26.
The only slight bump in the road for the Lady Rams was the loss of the second game of the match by the score of 25-30. Other than the second game's minor setback, the Lady Rams used a potent offensive attack to earn their sixth match victory of the year.
WSSU had three players register double-digit kill totals as Kyra Pridgen led the Lady Rams with 17 kills. She was joined by freshman Cherena Douglass with 13 kills and Chasity Clark with 10.
Leading the way for the Lady Blue Bears in the losing effort was Charma Johnson who tallied nine kills.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 6-10 on the season (5-4 CIAA) as the Lady Blue Bears fall to 4-5 overall (3-2 CIAA).
WSSU returns to action at 6:00 pm when they square off against Paine College while Livingstone returns to the court at 4:00 pm versus Paine College.
