WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Behind Afryea Allen's 14 kills, the Lady Spartans of Norfolk State University earned a 3-0 (30-20, 30-28, 30-24) victory over Winston-Salem State University in consolation-bracket volleyball action at the 2006 WSSU Lady Rams volleyball invitational on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Spartans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind a 30-20 win in the first game of the match and a 30-28 victory in the match's second game.
WSSU mounted a comeback attempt in the third game of the match, yet NSU's Yolanda Roberts collected four of her 10 total kills in the game to propel the Lady Spartans to a 30-24 win en route to securing the match victory.
WSSU was led by Jasmine Watkins who tallied a team-high seven kills in 16 total attack chances, turning in an attack percentage of .438. She was joined by Seidah El Amin who earned six kills in the loss.
