Raleigh, NC - Utilizing a total team effort, the Saint Augustine's College volleyball team hit an impressive .297 on the evening as the Falcons bounced back from an early-week loss to sweep the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University, 30-20, 30-14, 30-28, Wednesday night at Emery Gymnasium. The win improved Saint Augustine's to 10-4 on the season, while the Lady Rams fell to 5-17 overall.
Aurea Griffith led Saint Augustine's with 16 kills and 4 digs, while Renee Clarke had 33 assists. Samantha Joseph, Vittorio McDuffie, and Davia Moss chipped in with eight kills. Winston-Salem State hit .053 percent in the match and was outblocked by its opponent, 5.0 to 3.0. Chasity Clark led the Lady Rams with nine kills.
The Lady Falcons led most of game one and controlled the tempo from the get-go. After being down five points (28-23), in the third, the Lady Rams would fight back to cut the gap at two points late in the game (28-29). However, on match point, a reception error cost the Lady Rams and the Lady Falcons claimed the victory.
WSSU returns to action on October 6th, 2004 when they travel to Salisbury, NC to take on the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College at 6:00 pm.
