Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team easily defeated the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University on Tuesday evening in the Whitaker Gymnasium on the campus of WSSU by the score of 3-0 to improve to 10-16 overall in 2004.
The Lady Rams, still without the services of All-CIAA outside-hitter Chasity Clark (Sr./Winston-Salem, NC) who has been less than productive in her brief appearances since going down with an injury, were easily able to mount an attack that stifled the defenseless Lady Golden Bulls and cruise to a win by the scores of 30-16, 30-22, and 30-26.
Leading the way for the Lady Rams was freshman Cherena Douglass (Fr./Springfield, IL) who led three WSSU players in double figures with 20 kills.
With the win, WSSU improves to 10-16 overall (7-6 in the CIAA) while JCSU falls to 1-15 overall (1-11 CIAA).
WSSU returns to action on Thursday evening as they take on the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University who currently sit atop the CIAA's Western Division. The opening serve is at 6:00 pm.
