Winston-Salem, NC - The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University showed why they are perched atop the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Western Division on Thursday evening as they easily defeated the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University by the score of 3-1 in conference volleyball action.
The Lady Rams, who are clinging to their CIAA Championship Tournament lives are currently sitting in fourth place in the Western Division and were saddled with the loss as they saw another important division game slip through their collective fingers.
The Eagles took a victory in game one of the match by the score of 30-18 and looked to be on their way to an easy win as NCCU completely dominated the first game. However, the Lady Rams showed why they are not to be taken lightly as they knocked off the 2003 Western Division runner-up Lady Eagles in the second game 30-20.
WSSU celebrations would be cut short however as NCCU roared back to life and took the third and fourth game of the match by the scores of 30-21 and 30-15 to earn the victory.
With the loss the Lady Rams fall to 10-17 overall and fall back to .500 in the CIAA at 7-7. WSSU returns to action on October 26th, 2004 at 6:00 pm as they take on the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University.
