Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University volleyball player Benita Wicker, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be featured in an extended-length interview on Fox 8's "Sports Saturday" at 10:30 pm on June 7th, 2003.
Wicker, a sophomore Biology Major from Durham, NC is a member of the Winston-Salem State Volleyball Team. She was an integral part of the Lady Ram team that advanced to the CIAA Volleyball Championship Semifinals. In 2002, she contributed five kills and assists, 101 digs and 22 service aces to the Lady Rams. WSSUs 19-12 overall and 13-5 CIAA record was the best in school history. Wicker is a 2003 WSSU Chancellors Cup Award Winner and a Chancellors Cup Scholar, on a full academic scholarship and leads all student-athletes at WSSU with a 3.941 grade point average.
The interview will air on Fox 8, available in Winston-Salem, High Point and Greensboro, and will feature Ms. Wicker in a sit-down interview with Fox 8's Danny Harnden. In addition to Wicker, the interview features a brief sit-down with WSSU Head Volleyball Coach, Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator, Tonia Walker as she comments on the contribution of Benita Wicker to WSSU's volleyball team and the university at large.
