CARY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams cross country teams had a solid outing at the 2011 adidas Cross Country Challenge hosted by North Carolina State University, Friday afternoon. Both teams had strong outings that saw nearly every runner improve their efforts. The Rams finished the meet in fourth place while the Lady Rams finished sixth.
The Lady Rams were led by and experienced trio of runners who all placed in the top 50 of the meet. Sophomore Brittney Killebrew led the way for the Lady Rams with a season-best 20:02.6 and placing 36th at the meet while junior Manuela Rigaud placed 43rd with a 20:20.8. She was closely followed by fellow junior Tyrah Winfrey, who placed 44th with a 20:35.0.
The Rams also had some strong individual performances as well with junior Andrew Chebii and senior Desmond Wiggan leading the way for the squad. Chebii led the way for the Rams with a 16th place finish in 15:27.2 while Wiggan placed 27th with a 16:12.1.
