CARY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams men's and women's cross country teams kept their season going with some solid performances at the 8th Annual Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge and College Run. The teams saw some great individual performances with numerous personal records set at the meet.
The Rams women had a strong day, totaling 257 points at the meet. WSSU sophomore Victoria Porter led the way for the Rams with a 22:09.8 in the women's 5K run. Sophomore Tamia McLean added a personal record with 22:23.8. Sophomoe Qjuanda Rowe rounded out the top three with a 23:05.2.
The Rams men's team also had a great day with several personal records. Freshman Charles Terry led the way for the Rams with a 37:01.6 in the men's 8K run to place 90th. Sophomore Ashley Simon added a 95th place finish with a 41:41.8. Freshman Marques Perry added a 99th place finish with a 46:23.
The Rams men's and women's cross country teams will next take the course with a conference championship on the line as the team takes part in the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Championships in Salem, Va.
