2007: Jeptolo cemented her place as the top runner in Winston-Salem State University history with another great performance during her junior season...She finished the season with four first place finishes and placed in the top ten in every race of the season...She broke her own WSSU record for the third time with a seventh-place finish at the 2007 Walt Disney World Cross Country Invitational in a time of 18:16.61 in the biggest event of the season...She finished fifth at the 2007 Adidas Wolfpack Invitational hosted by North Carolina State in a time of 19:10.00.
2006: There was no sophomore slump for Jeptolo who had a stellar performance in her second season as a Lady Ram...She broke her own record with a time of 18.49.6 and an eighth place finish at the Greensboro Invitational...She placed in the top ten in five of the team's six meets...She capped the season with a win at the Eagles Cross Country Invitational hosted by North Carolina Central...She won the event with a time of 19:22.59.
2005: Irene began her career with a great freshman season, placing in the top ten in five of seven races as a true freshman and winning the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional...Here best 5K time of the season set a new school record when she posted a 19:12 at the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro, NC...She also had a stellar performance at the CIAA Championships where she finished second with a time of 19:37.10 in the event...She followed that effort with another stellar performance in winning the 2005 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional in a time of 23:25 in the 6K event...Her performance qualified her for a spot in the NCAA Division II Championships where she finished 59th in a time of 23:24.7 in the event which featured some of the best runners in the nation.
Personal: Jeptolo rejoins the Lady Rams' cross-country and track and field teams for her third seasons in 2007-08 following very successful freshman and sophomore campaigns...A native of Kapsabet, Kenya, she is a graduate of St. Joseph's Girls School...The daughter of Ernest and Lilian Tanui...A nursing major at WSSU...Nicknamed "Renee"...Born in Kapsabet, Kenya on July 23rd, 1984...Earned a second-place finish at the 2005 CIAA Women's Cross Country Championships in Cary, NC...Earned a Southeast Regional (Division II) Women's Cross Country Championship that also qualified her for the NCAA Championships in Pomona, CA where she finished 59th...Named the Southeast Region Division II Women's Fall-Sport Athlete of the Year...Named the WSSU Women's Female Athlete of the Year in 2005-06 and in 2007-08.
