Clemmons, NC - The Winston-Salem State University women's cross country team, cruised to a first place finish in the Division II flight at the Southern Cross Country Invitational at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC on Friday afternoon as they defeated Greensboro College and Bluefield State College.

The Lady Rams, hosting their first multi-team cross country event in over five seasons, turned in a very impressive performance on Friday afternoon as they would fall to only Elon University, another Division I opponent in the meet, and only by eight points.

The Lady Rams turned in a total of 27 points,with Greensboro College recording 40 points and Bluefield State College turning in a total of 66 points.  Louisburg College failed to turn in a score.

WSSU, who looked impressive in the Division II scoring division, has proven that even a fledgling program can make an impression on even quality opponents.

The Lady Rams have continued to make strides this season under Coach Morgan, and will return to action on October 1^st, 2005 at the Hagen Stone Classic in Greensboro, NC.
