PLEASANT GARDEN, NC - Led by Irene Jeptolo's fifth-place finish, the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams cross country team earned a fifth place team finish at the Old Northstate Cross Country Championships hosted by Guilford College at Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, NC on Saturday morning.

Jeptolo turned in the best individual finish for the Lady Rams as she led all WSSU finishers and was the only WSSU runner to crack into the top 10.  She completed the course in a team-best 19:16.40 as she continues to move up the regional rankings.

In other WSSU notable action, Tomita Ferguson (42^nd) and Sandy Harrison (62^nd) rounded out the Lady Rams' top 65 finishers.

High Point University won the event with 30 points with Elon University (34) and East Carolina University (68) placing second and third respectively. 

WSSU's 167 points earned them a fifth-place finish ahead of 10 other teams, including, but not limited to, North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T, and Saint Augustine's College.

The Lady Rams return to action on September 30, 2006 at Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, NC as they participate in the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational.
