Cary, NC - The Lady Rams cross country team of Winston-Salem State University finished in fifth place on Thursday afternoon at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, NC as they rode the stellar performance of Irene Jeptolo who paced WSSU as she recorded a time of 19:37.10 to capture second place place overall.
WSSU would record three top-30 finishers as Jeptolo (2nd with a time of 19:37.10), Tomita Ferguson (17th with a time of 22:21.10) and Sandy Harrison (27th with a time of 23:34.0) all finished in the top-30 overall.
For her top-10 finish, Jeptolo is named to the All-CIAA first team, something that no other Lady Ram runner has accomplished in the history of the fledgling program.
The Lady Rams will await the NCAA regional rankings and are preparing for the upcoming National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Southeast Regionals.
