WSSU Rams Fall To Mars Hill On Emilio Abreu's Career Day

MARS HILL, NC – Emilio Abreu went three for four with two runs scored and an incredible, eight runs batted in, but it was not enough, as the Rams allowed four eighth inning runs to Mars Hill, to fall 12-9 on Sunday.

Winston-Salem State was able to push across two runs in the first, when Emilio Abreau singled to right center, scoring Kanoa Hironaka and Randy Norris.

WSSU would add three more run in the top of the 3rd, when Emilio Abreu homered to left field, scoring Ivan Acuna. Michael McNamara would later double down the left field line, scoring Brandon Ford.

Winston-Salem State would not plate anymore runs until the eighth, when Emilio Abreau continued his excellent game, with a grand slam home run, giving the rams 9-8 lead, heading to the bottom of the inning.

Mars Hill scored four runs of their own in the bottom half of the eighth inning on five hits, to take the game 12-9.

Randy Norris finished 1 for 5 with two runs scored, and Trevor Pool went 1 for 2 with a run scored. Ivan Acuna went 1 for three with two runs scored, and Brandon Ford finished 2 for 5 with a run scored. Michael McNamara went 1 for 4 with a run batted in, and Landon Steiner and Willie McRae each went 1 for 4. Ivan Acuna took the loss pitching the last 0.2 innings for the Rams.
