WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (16-8) had a tough time against a terrific UNC Pembroke (15-5) pitching performance as the team took a 3-1 loss to the Braves, Friday afternoon. The Rams were held to just one run in the game despite some solid performances at the plate.
The Rams had a solid day at the plate in the tough loss. As a team, the Rams totaled five hits in the game. Senior third base Emilio Abreu led the way for the Rams with a two-for-three batting effort with a home run. Junior outfielder Randy Norris and sophomore catcher Cole Parks both went one-for-four at the plate.
Defense was the order of the day with both teams fining a hard time scoring. The Rams allowed two fourth inning runs and a sixth inning run before Abreu hit a seventh-inning solo homer. It was the only WSSU run of the game as the Rams finished with the hard-fought loss.
WSSU senior Seth Reeves (2-2) took the pitching loss. He started the game and went 6.0 innings. He finished the game with three runs allowed, two earned. He also added four strikeouts.
