WSSU's Missed Free Throws Spell Doom For Rams In 89-81 Loss

MILWAUKEE, WIS - Winston-Salem State University raced out to a big first half lead, but surrendered it in the second half, as Clark-Atlanta defeated the Rams 89-81 in the Fresh Coast Classic in Milwaukee, Wis.

The loss drops Winston-Salem State to 2-3, while Clark-Atlanta improves to 2-2 on the season.

The WSSU Rams jumped out quick on the Panthers of Clark-Atlanta and headed into the locker room at the half with a commanding 47-31 advantage.

But Winston-Salem State's achilles heel of poor free throw shooting once again came back to haunt them, as the Rams were able to make just 20 of 45 attempts, letting the Panthers back into the game.

Clark-Atlanta outscored the WSSU Rams 58-34 in the second half to defeat the Rams, 89-81.

Javan Wells led the WSSU Rams with a career high 33 points, while Preston Ross added 14 points and four rebounds. Tyre Desmore added 10 points and four rebounds.

Jordan Husley led Clark-Atlanta with 25 points, and Jarrel Joye added 19 points.

Winston-Salem State will face Lane College tomorrow in the Fresh Coast Classic.
