Polite; Bloomfield Lead WSSU All-CIAA Selections

Charlotte, N.C. - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with its Football Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association has released the 2015 All-CIAA First, Second and Honorable Mention teams, as well as the All-Rookie Team.

The Players of the Year and the First Team All-CIAA honorees will receive their awards during a pre-game ceremony prior to the start of the 2015 CIAA Football Championship game. The Championship game will be held at the Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Kickoff is 2:00 p.m. The game will be aired live on the ASPiRE Network.

The Winston-Salem State University Rams have 12 student-athletes who have earned conference honors.

Offensive lineman Jac'Que Polite and defensive lineman, Michael Bloomfield, were named to the All-CIAA first team.

Polite is the anchor of the WSSU offensive line that ranks fifth in rushing (159.2 yds/gm) and ninth in passing (161.2 yds/gm).

Bloomfield leads the Rams in tackles with 66, including 15 tackles for loss and a team high seven sacks. He also has one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and five quarterback hurries.

Will Johnson was named second team All-CIAA, while scoring a team high 68 points, and finishing the season 23 of 25 on PAT's and 15 of 22 on field goals. Johnson also punted 55 times for a 39.9 average.

Phillip Williamson was named second team All-CIAA, and was second on the team in tackles with 56, while also producing 12 tackles for loss and six sacks on the season. Williamson also had a forced fumble and three pass deflections.

Kailan Chavis was also named to the All-CIAA second team, and was third on the team with 41 tackles, four tackles for loss, one interception and two pass deflections.

Reggie Wilkins was named second team All-CIAA as a punt returner, with 14 returns for a 14.1 average and one touchdown.
