Hurricane Irma has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. The storm's forecasted track continues to fall west, reducing the potential impact on the Winston-Salem State University campus.
The National Weather Service has placed Winston-Salem under a wind advisory until 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12. Windy conditions will continue with the strongest wind gusts expected to occur between 6 p.m. this evening and 2 a.m. tomorrow morning. Wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour are possible.
We will continue to monitor the storm; however, no changes to the university's operations are anticipated. If a weather condition warrants your immediate attention or action, you will receive a RamAlert.
The safety and security of our campus community is our highest priority. While the university will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Irma, this will be the last update unless there is an imminent threat to the safety of students, staff, and faculty on campus.
